If you are a parent then you will know how precious and fleeting sleep can be. It’s important for both parents and children to get a good night’s sleep. When Simba Sleep asked For The Family to take a look at the Simba Hybrid Mattress Original we were very keen to see if this could improve our sleep. We chose to review a single mattress, but the Simba Hybrid Mattress is available in UK Single, Small Double, Double, King and Super King, as well as three EU sizes should you have an EU bed frame.
First impressions were very positive in terms of delivery and arrival. The Simba Hybrid Mattress arrived vacuum packed in a box which was heavy, but not cumbersome. This means it is much easier to get inside and up stairs or into awkward spaces than a full size mattress. This would be particularly good for those trying to get a mattress into a loft space for example, or to get into a small bedroom. If you are replacing an old mattress then Simba Sleep offer a free service to remove the old one which is extremely useful and saves you waiting for the council to collect or maneavouring into a car to get to the recycling centre.
Other perks of this mattress include a 200 night trial, after which you can return it if you find it not to your liking and a 10 year guarantee. We were pleased to see that returns are refurbished where possible, meaning low wastage.
The Simba Sleep Hybrid Mattress has five different layers which have been vacuum packed in order for simplified shipping as previously discussed. It can take up to 72 hours to fully spring back to life, which it does with vigour, leaving us with a very good looking and comfortable mattress in no time. However, the mattress is safe and ready to use within three to six hours, so you won’t need to wait if you’re replacing your old mattress or have a brand new bed, you can still use the mattress that night even though it might continue to expand a bit over the following days. There is a slight new foam smell to it which you’re probably familiar with, we left the bedroom window open for a few hours and it quickly dissipated.
Once it’s decompressed the mattress sits at 25cm deep, with 1,900 springs and 9 support zones. Each layer is designed to provide support and contouring, air circulation to control temperature, a titanium alloy to limit motion transfer and provide stability and strength, micro springs and memory foam for maximum comfort. It’s a very impressive package. If you do find the bed a little firm, you could consider adding single mattress toppers to add a little bit of extra softness, but we personally didn’t need to do this.
The most important quality for a mattress is how comfortable it is to sleep on. This mattress is an absolute dream to sleep on and suitable for adults or children. It is super comfortable, cradling you well but also being supportive from the firm base. It’s easy to turn over on and has good temperature control, with a cooling layer to tackle overheating. It is much more comfortable and supportive than our previous mattress, which was a premium brand. When it comes time to replace the next mattress in the house, Simba is definitely a brand we will be looking at.
As families, the cleanliness of a mattress is important. The Simba Hybrid Mattress comes with a zippable, washable and hypoallergenic cover which is an excellent feature. We also received a Simba Performance Mattress Protector which adds an additional layer of comfort and fill with an anti-dust mite treatment. You can place your own additional waterproof mattress cover on the bed if you are worried about bed-wetting.
Finally, we also received the Simba Custom Comfort Hybrid Pillow, which feels like the pinnacle of pillow design. This pillow is filled with a unique “nanocube” stuffing which can be adjusted by removing or adding cubes in order to receive the right pillow height and firmness for you. It’s has a quilted zippable, washable cover and most importantly, is incredibly comfortable to sleep on.
Overall we were extremely impressed with our mattress, mattress protector and pillow from Simba Sleep and it receives a full 5 stars from the For The Family team.
Disclosure: A single Simba Hybrid Original Mattress, Protector and Pillow were gifted to the For The Family team in order to allow us to write an impartial review. No financial incentives were offered or received.
